Steel wire rubber hoses are key components in industrial hydraulic systems and fluid transportation. Their core characteristic lies in the use of braided or wound steel wire layers as a reinforcing skeleton, giving the hose excellent pressure-bearing capacity and structural stability. Unlike pure rubber hoses or fiber-reinforced hoses, steel wire rubber hoses can withstand working pressures of tens or even hundreds of megapascals and are widely used in engineering machinery, mining equipment, oilfield extraction, and metallurgical equipment.
I. Layered Structure of Steel Wire Rubber Hose
Steel wire rubber hoses are typically composed of three composite parts: an inner rubber layer, a reinforcing layer, and an outer rubber layer.
The inner rubber layer, which is in direct contact with the transported medium, is made of a special synthetic rubber resistant to liquid corrosion, such as nitrile rubber, possessing excellent oil resistance, heat resistance, and aging resistance. The inner rubber layer must be compatible with the transported medium; for example, oil-resistant rubber is used when transporting mineral oil, and a water-resistant formula is used when transporting water-based liquids.
The reinforcing layer is the core source of the steel wire rubber hose's pressure-bearing capacity. Depending on the application requirements, the reinforcing layer can consist of one to three layers of braided steel wire or multiple layers of wound steel wire. The steel wire braided layer acts as the skeleton structure, bearing the pressure load of the internal medium and ensuring the hose maintains its shape stability under high pressure.
The outer rubber layer is a protective layer, made of weather-resistant synthetic rubber, resisting external damage such as ultraviolet rays, ozone, oil stains, and mechanical abrasion.
II. Difference between Steel Wire Braiding and Steel Wire Winding
There are two main types of reinforcing structures for steel wire rubber hoses. The steel wire braided structure consists of several high-strength steel wires woven in a cross-web pattern, suitable for general high-pressure systems with working pressures ranging from 5-60 MPa. The steel wire winding structure involves spirally winding steel wires layer by layer, with rubber separating the layers, suitable for ultra-high-pressure systems with working pressures up to 100 MPa.
III. Key Technical Parameters
The technical specifications of steel wire rubber hoses include pressure rating, temperature range, and nominal diameter. The working pressure is typically in the range of 5-72 MPa, with a burst pressure of 3-4 times the working pressure. The applicable temperature range is -40℃ to 100℃ for oil-based media and 0℃ to 70℃ for water-based media.
IV. Application Advantages of Steel Wire Rubber Hose
Steel wire rubber hose combines flexibility and high strength. The hose body is tightly bonded, exhibiting minimal deformation under pressure, excellent bending resistance and fatigue resistance, and superior pulse performance, enabling it to withstand frequent pressure fluctuations in hydraulic systems.
